Did you know that by simply waxing your car you can gain about 2 miles per gallon more. Is it just me or is it true, what do you think

I don't believe there can be a measurable difference in gas mileage by waxing the car. Air going across the surface of the car doesn't build up nearly as much friction as another substance might, so wax really has little benefit other than it makes the vehicle look good.

...that's a total load.

There isn't that much friction on the surface of a car
that would restrict air flow enough to make up +2mpg...never ever.!

Throw that premise to science and watch them lick their collective chops.

Silliness...

I waxed one of them yesterday - I don't think it has any effect on gas mileage though.

I think your about 2 miles per gallon high in your estimate. I wax my car to protect the finish, it doesn't help for fuel mileage.

Molybdenum Disulfide is way slipperier than wax. Pour about 10 lbs over your car and it will really make a difference!

I don't think you have to wax the new cars these days with the top coat they have, but no, you can't get more mpg's from waxing it.

Wax it twice a year. Are you serious about getting better mileage I think its just you. But you could be right if you wash off 300lbs of mud before you wax.

Don't think so; but sure makes them look nice and helps with the salt in winter.

Amazingly I triple waxed both sides of my tail-gate and left it down for streamlining(like a tail fin)on the truck). Testing both at highway speeds......
