I have a correction to my last message: "Would one of you good GasBuddies please do me a major BIG favor by asking Psycho Sid to please look for/answer a "buddy request" from Chasms." That would be SO appreciated- not to feel ignored continually. Thanks So Much.

Good morning all GasBuddies from 61º So-Cal where at least we do see the sun popping its head out finally.

Would one of you GasBuddies please do me a major BIG favor by asking Psycho Sid to please look for a "buddy request" from Chasms. I never asked him to be my buddy til about a week ago; but I still get ignored. That would be ULTRA-appreciated I can assure you! Have a Great Day also. :)

Sid, we were golfing up in Lake George yesterday. It's about 45 miles north of Chez Geezer. It was cloudy, but no rain. As we headed south on I-87 we saw darkness, then we drove into the storm. There were cars lining the sides of the road because of how heavy the rain was pounding down. We didn't encounter any flooding or other problems and got home safely. Early Tuesday the spillway from the Mohawk River to the Hudson River was dry. With the rains from Tuesday and yesterday it's roaring, as is the Cohoes Falls. More storms predicted for later today.

Good morning.

Grmoore, I actually put that thing together originally using Wordperfect. About the time I got it going, Time Warner yanked the web space out from under me (and thousands of other customers), and I thought I'd lost it. Just discovered backups a while back and decided to get my own domain and play with it some more.

I'll have to check out Visual Studio. I'm using Frontpage 2000 right now.

Glad that's over for you, WR-INC. On a more cheerful note, our WR Old Dead Chicken last night turned out to be really REALLY good.

Good morning, Joseph....Psyr Psyd.....VW....

Time for more coffee!

Greetings Doc, Baylee, Mindy, PayPump, Mick, WRINC, Joelimo, Geezer, Wack, MadDogUSMC, Loree71, Full of Fun, Chasms, blkvette00, & Others:

Happy Thursday! 68 degrees this morning.

Doc - looks good! I got my introduction to web development on FrontPage (98) and migrated to Visual Studio. Most of the stuff I do now only requires Notepad (HTML and JavaScript). I sometimes use HTML Kit (a free tool that has a little GUI tool interface).

Training completed so I'm well on my way to accruing the required numbers of hours toward my Government Supervisor recertification.

I have a funeral to attend this morning; a colleague's daughter was killed in an automobile accident. She was only 22 - life is short!

Off to breakfast, work at home for a bit, to the funeral and then into the office.

Have a great day all!

Good morning everyone,

The burial ceremony went well. It was lightly raining, and the veterans did their duty with honor to themselves as well as the departed. The groundskeepers were busy setting up extra flags everywhere for Memorial Day. The wayward children kept quiet.

VW, my Mothers parents lived in Ontonagon, Michigan on the shores of Lake Superior just east of the Porcupine Mountains. My grandpa was from Lapland east of Sweden and my grandma was from Helsinki, Finland. My gramps worked the copper mines in the western UP and died from emphysema from all of the dust in the mines. He lived until he was 94 and my mother's mother lived until she was about 89. Hard core Finlanders. Matti and Hilja Virola.

Unfortunately, Psyr Psyd, I have only a lot and a half, with no mineral rights. Anybody who comes onto my lot to drill a hole better make it long and wide enough for his dead body, though....THAT ain't gon' happen.

Yeah, BW, I've seen most of those...but thanks for stopping by. Do it anytime. We need to have some mudbugs or something at Willie's one of these days. Lemme know when you can do that.

Oh, well, I need to get to bed. Talk more tomorrow. After all that web stuff today, I am TARD!

Sid, My folks purchased the family farm from my grandmother because she couldn't run the farm anymore after my dad's dad passed away in a car wreck in 1949. Jennie and Olai had purchased the farm about 1915 and they raised chickens, hogs and milked dairy cows along with raising crops to feed the animals.

My parents started took over with all that but soon got rid of the hogs. They raised geese to sell the eggs for years and my mother took care of 200 chickens. Plenty of eggs to sell and I remember going to the egg market with my dad when I was young. They evidently decided no more chickens when they added on to the barn to milk 6 more cows about 1968.

The primary farm was 160 acres and we had a second 80-acre farm for livestock and to storing our hay and straw. We raised our own livestock and ran a beef animal for our own meat. We milked Holsteins but a Guernsey ran in the herd for her butterfat. That poor animal was so picked on I felt sorry for her.

For crops. we raised what was needed to feed the animals: alfalfa mix hay, corn for silage and grain and oats. Plenty of our land was swampy so we had an abundance of pasture land too.

My mother helped on the farm and all of us kids helped too. My dad had one hand due to an accident when he was a teen. He didn't use a prosthesis either. Thinking back the only things I noticed he couldn't do were cut a steak with a knife and fork and cut open a baked potato - he squished it. I learned a lot from him. My folks sold the farm in 1981.

OH Yea...Please check your Gasbuddy buddy requests. Please! Thanks 3 tons :)

VW, this farm has been in my father's side of the family for 163 years. It was homesteaded in 1850 after the lumber barons went through Saginaw County and through the middle part of the Lower peninsula.

There is a couple of pair trees and about 10 apple trees that are probably over 110 years old. My grandfather milked cows and had beef cattle. The house was built in 1953 and the barn was built September of 1945 right after Nagasaki when father came home with his combat pay. The calendar in the milk room says August 1961.

My Superman and Mad magazines are still up in the hay loft where I used to play as a little kid. There's been numerous houses and barns on the farm here since the middle of the last century. Tittabawassee Township, MI.

Sugar beets, soy beans, and corn along with winter wheat.

What did your family produce? Cranberries? Dairy?

Hey Sid. Tell me about your farm. Orchard, crop dairy or beef? I grew up on a dairy farm in west-central Wisconsin. I miss those days of feeding the calves and petting the bossies.

Howdy.

Been having some fun learning more and more about website building with MS Frontpage....ain't easy, but ain't all that bad, either. Check out the latest developments RAT HERE!

Talk to folks, Psyd. Some day you'll regret losing touch. Just yesterday I got back in touch with a guy I haven't seen or heard from since 1950. It's a real treat. We played a little football together and did a little swimming together. Maybe this summer we'll get to drink a little coffee together. That's the kind of stuff that makes life good when you get older than the rocks dinosaur crap used to fall on.

I just try to keep my filters clean, CHASMS. When the innards get clogged, I get somebody to wash 'em out...but not that often.

Time for DELICIOUS Old Dead WondeRoast Chicken...my favorite kind!

LOL LOL LOL, etc.

Heyhowdy, dp 'n all.

Been absent for thee past couple of days.

Found a place where,if I wanted to live in a tent for the remainder of my life, I would welcome the day. High atop Mt. Palomar at 5,550 feet, just below the Palomar observatory, is an oak grove full of huge granite boulders. Just sitting there surrounded by the natural serenity of the place made me want to ride home and get my tent and sleeping bag and forget the world below.

I'm speaking mostly to our friend DOC & ALL others with AC: I well know how our AC systems can double as our closest friends when summer hits, BUT if proper "maintenance" isn't performed on certain parts, our AC systems can become an expensive enemy that might leave us baking instead!

Sorry, but sometimes we ALL can all put-off or forget & soon have it break when we -need- it most. Just a reminder is all. (smile)

Mornin All GBers from So-Cal where we're *starting out at* a pleasant 62º right now but will likely get into the 90's+ again -a few hours from now. CA's getting really close to its lately-'usual' start of summer- which looks to be another doozey.

Hey Psycho Sid, please watch for the buddy request I sent you this A.M. even tho I'm much later than most of yer GB friends. Just call me a Li'l late for the usual program. sorry :)

Doc, here's the most common species of fish in the San Antonio River.

Bluegill
Channel Catfish
Red Shiner
Yellow Bullhead
Largemouth Bass
Green Sunfish
Texas Shiner
Gizzard Shad
Central Stoneroller
Loghead Perch

There's 72 species overall depending on where you are or how close you are to the Gulf of Mexico.

Sorry no brown trout. They need high oxygenated and cold water.

You must have been talking about the William Shatner's!

lol, and so forth

Greetings Doc, Baylee, Mindy, PayPump, Mick, WRINC, Joelimo, Geezer, Wack, MadDogUSMC, Loree71, Full of Fun, Chasms, blkvette00, & Others:

Happy Wednesday! 68 degrees and a little wet; more precipitation forecasted for today. I was able to get the front yard mowed and some fertilizer applied in between rain last night. My wife applied bug granules in the back yard so we can combat the ticks and fleas.

Doc - :)

Off to breakfast and training - day 2.

Have a great day all!

Good morning everyone,

The funeral yesterday went well until the end, when the son and daughter of my MIL's husband tried to have their own person launch into a sermon. We and most others left. The luncheon afterwards went well until the same duo tried to resume their "service", which ended the gathering. Reports from people who went back to get belongings they'd left said that the two were angry and loudly berating innocent attendees.

Today we gather for a short burial ceremony at Ft Snelling.

Sure not feeling too speedy, Waci.

Psyd, we have the tourists convinced that critters they catch in the San Antonio River are brown trout, just that they're a litle bloated this time of the year from eating all those peanuts. They don't get much "play" from 'em, though, so they're not so popular. LOL

Going to bed, y'all....long day.

At least we have a doo doo factory unlike San Antonio. How often do you empty your septic tanks down there? Or is there a sewer that runs down to the Rio Grande River.

There must be a lot of William Shatner's in the Rio Grande.

Doc, you should go to your local Chevy dealer and test drive one of those new SS Camero's!

Bring a roll of toilet paper and a pair of Depends, because you'll probably lose your bowels.
