"WASHINGTON--(ENEWSPF)--March 30 - Legislation introduced yesterday in both the U.S. House and Senate would provide liability protection for oil companies, gas retailers and engine manufacturers against any engine damage resulting from consumers' use of E15, a gasoline blended with 15 percent ethanol. The bill, known as the "Domestic Fuels Act of 2012," would encourage the transition of E15 into the U.S. marketplace despite overwhelming evidence that the fuel will severely damage small engines, void consumer warranties and pollute drinking water."

With them pushing so hard for this "get outa jail free" legistation, one can only look to the future of increased ethanol usage in everyday fuels ...

If E15 goes on the market, someone needs to take responsibility for any damage it may cause, no matter how unlikely. The bill sounds like none of the industries or any government agency is willing to go on the record as saying they actually believe it is harmless and are willing to stand behind E15. this means that, no matter what they might say, they do not really believe E15 is harmless. I think the probablility of damage is fairly low but this bill would leave any fool who actually buys E15 stuck with the responsibility for any damage to their engine.
