I was unaware there was sequel. After a quick once over, it doesn't look promising.

There is huge discussion on DD which goes on over on the IMDB movie site. People there are expert on the rules of the alternate universe. If you got confused in the plot, hang on IMDB and it will clear up the puzzlement.

My favorite scene was the unworldy unmasking in the theatre. The atmosphere and music and tension in that scene was superb.

I get out to LA on occasion and made a pilrimage to the theatre where that scene was filmed. It is the Aero Theatre on Montana Blvd. in Santa Monica. Its a functioning theatre and you can watch a movie if you want.

I wasn't a fan, but that may be because I only recently watched it. Maybe its age is why it didn't really click with me (or the fact that I'm not a fan of stories which involve a change in history).

Yes, Gyllenhaal was great as Donnie Darko. Too bad that one of his "big budget" films recently was a flop (Prince of Persia) - but he's got a lot of great acting to do in the future.

Have you noticed Beth Grant from the film (she played Kitty Farmer - the older teacher) is in the new Skittles commercial?

Yeah, great film, I never heard of Jake Gyllenhaal 'til BB mountain. I started exploring his earlier films after that one. Donnie Darko was extraordinary. I hung out on IMDB where people are experts on the film, and the back story. Best scene was the unmasking in the cinema. Last time in LA I made a pilgrimage to that cinema in Santa Monica.
