Tomkatz66, sure it's nuts but somebody has to be buying it at those prices, 'caveat emptor'. You asked earlier, who is pocketing the profits?
The answer there is not the oil companies but the station owner/operator.

drpepperTX, At this time, most people here are very stressed and concerned about keeping their jobs. When questioned about fuel price hunting, many just respond "I don't have time for that I just go to the nearest station". That may sound, dumb or weird, but these are difficult times for most people. I saw a Chevron station in South Florida this morning charging $4.59/gal.Reg. Now thats nuts.

another reason for the media scare someone to raise gas prices somewhere. There are not any refinery outages. M= make a bunch of crap up E= exaggerate to the public so your packets can get padded with money D= drive up gas prices I= Instill fear A= All will pay because of our lies

Tomkatz66, the real question is who in their right mind is patronizing the $3.99 station when gas in the $3.30's is close by?

Very Interesting! In South Florida one city is having a gas war. Major brands Reg. $3.34/Gal. Yet, just a few miles up the interstate, the price jumps to $3.99/gal. Is that nuts or what? The entire East coast from Florida to New York, regular fuel prices vary as much as $.65 cents a gal. But in some cases the disparity is less than three miles apart. Something smells rotten here. Just who is pocketing the profits? Where are our wonderful goverment bureacrats now?

Thanks for the warning -- or was it to soften the blow? One station in town has raised it's prices 3 times since Friday morning -- when they got their last delivery -- from $3.89 to $4.03 (Fred Meyer). A Happy Mothers Day present. Bless them.

I wish I had read this last week. I could have filled with good quality fuel at $3.81/gallon for regular. Morning of 5/11 I checked the buddy and found the cheapest in Longview, WA was $3.87 at AR/Co. When I got there after work at 5 pm I fueled at $3.91/gallon for regular. I didn't see the fuel truck on site but the dude was changing the board to $3.97 as I was leaving. Why 10 cents in one day? I told a fellow customer who commented that Memorial Day is coming up that they will bend us over while they can.

Be ready ... yeah, like what are we gonna do about it? Thanks for the heads up though. Gonna saddle-up, hitch up the old buckboard and move-on-out -- yippee-yi-yay!
Glad to see that no politicians have started an inquiry as to why there is this *amazing* coincidence of refinery failures - lookin' at you Boxer and Feinstein!! If the refineries were assessed penalties for not keeping their plants in good running order, this would go a long way to preventing these convenient extortionary, oh, I mean *maintenance* events.

No refiner is making $100 million per day. None, zero, zilch, nada. An integrated oil company may make that much, due primarily to oil PRODUCTION, not refining. Refinery operations are not that profitable. That is why they are, by and large, shutting down everywhere.

What a joke to blame it on a gasoline blend. Refineries are pass through operations, they only shut down for maintenance, never to change blends. What they do is a make a base stock, for all blends, and then as part of the end game, they blend the different additives, during the end of the process, they don't shut down anything, they only change what they are putting in the finished blend tanks. By the by, the "blends" only add .10-.20 a gallon at most. It's just another "reason" the monopolies we call Big Oil uses to jack the prices up and blame someone else and OH YEAH, keep their profits at record levels. Literally the number one refiner is making $100,000,000 a DAY in profits and it's not by accident.

I have three issues with this so-called 'News Item'.
1st. It is a REPEAT from yesterday.
2nd. It isn't a 'news Item', it is a GasBuddy Blog.
3rd. Since it is a GasGuddy Blog why can't they just put the whole damn thing here instead of having us click on the link.
I can understand there are 'copyright issues' with a 'news item', so one can only copy and paste a snippet of that 'news item'.
But this isn't from a news source, it is a partial copy of a GasBuddy BLOG, and even has a "Reply To This Article" button with the reply being posted on that blog and here anyways.
