I try to avoid it. If someone tailgates me I slow down a bit, they usually pass me quickly. If I see someone zig zagging through traffic I get out of the way, I don't care to be involved should they cause an accident by driving like an idiot.

I think that we are seeing a lot of road rage, because people are talking on their cell phones while driving.

Driving a motorcycle makes one a target. I now drive a trike and even though we do the speed limit (or stay in the slow lane when conditions are bad) we seem to be even more of a target for a horn or finger (usually from some idiot with cell phone).
A motor cycle is entitled to the same space as a car...we get the whole lane and need it to drive safely (if you are a biker you know what I mean.oil, ruts, just being able to see and be seen). Why cars think they can honk and then we are supposed to give them half our lane to pass is beyond me. Honk all ya' want idiots....your BAD!!! MY lane!!!! (and get rid of the cell phone)

i think when people get mad at others when driving is retarded. if your doing something dangerous with a vehicle then thats another story. but if someone is going just a little to slow or left there turn signal on..big deal. you will get where you need to go. doesn't mean you have to cause a scene.

Actually had that expereince at the grocery store a few months ago when I "cut someone off" with my cart. Did not see the lady as she was almost running and she told me to f*** myself and took off. Should have complained to the store manager, but decided to let it go. But it is one reason I try to do most shopping on the internet.

I experience road rage from other drivers because I don't drive the way they think I should be driving. Faster, not in front of them or just plain in their way when they want to go somewhere that I'm not going.

Recently, I got cussed by some chick behind me. We came to an intersection that crosses a divided highway. I stopped and noticed a semi wanting to turn, from the right, my way. Instead of crossing on over to the median, I waited for him to make the turn. I knew he could make the turn easier if my van was not there, he didn't have to worry about missing the front of my car. When I finally did cross over, the gal behind me screams out her window, "f...... idiot!" I decided then, that every driver test should include turning, backing up and stopping a loaded trailer longer than 24 ft.

I experience road rage from others on the road. I especially hate when people not only cut me (or my car) off and even more when the pull out in front of my car really fast and then squeal on their breaks.

I don't see much road rage, just unmoderated anger :) like the middle-finger salute. You'd never do that to someone you passed walking in a mall, but on the highway its commonplace. I commonly get it from drivers of SUVs who want to go faster than I'm going, which is a speedy and efficient 55mph (when I get an indicated 61mpg). So they tag along behind me until they get an opportunity - then blast past waving their finger at me, all the while spewing black exhaust and consuming -- what? getting 5mpg? 9mpg? -- 'way more than their fair share of gas in the process. In the North Woods where I live its all SUVs and pick-ups, and nobody seems to understand that to SLOW DOWN is to SAVE MONEY. Nossir, friends, we're gonna blast down the highway because this is a FREE COUNTRY and no long-haired geezer in a Prius can stand in our way for LONG and not get a view of our freedom-loving finger! So there!
Well I understand that for working truckers time is always a factor, and I'm not saying they all practice finger-showing when they pass me by, but hey -- can't companies get real and admit that slower is better when prices are so high and let their drivers practice some good ol' common sense? Or are they paying discount prices for stolen diesel fuel? Is that what's going on? Somebody should check into that.

Road rage on the pedestrian side is not a pretty site either. As a frequent walker, obeying jay walking laws and crossing at pedestrian crossings I have seen people in such a hurry as to not yeild to pedestrians, cussing them out for "getting in the way", come close to running them (and me) over. The few seconds it takes for a pedestrian to get out of your way will not kill your day. I know there are those pedestrians also who do not have the sense to "look both ways", but remember- a car is a lot bigger and more dangerous than a pedestrian and the pedestrian ALWAYS has the right of way, whether they are "right" or not. I agree with the cell phone mess, as people are not paying full attention when driving.

Cell Phone People !!!! People that have the need to be tethered to their phone.... yet become OBLIVIOUS (and Ignorant) of the fact that there ARE others on the road.... and get so involved in their conversation that the weave, go 20mph BELOW the speed limit in the fast lane, and lose every bit of Drivers Ed and common manners they ever learned !!
I'm a Paramedic... and it does not matter (city or highway) if I am running HOT (lights & sirens)... "THAT IDIOT" who is INVOLVED in conversation that requires a hand on the phone... the other hand trading between actually STEERING and waving the offending hand (like the person they are talking to can SEE them).... will undoubtedly drop from the sky... and wind up right in front of me... and not budge !!
Actually... one time we were on the way TO a call, for a heart attack. "Cell Phone Person" was hogging the lane. Head bobbing as she flung her hands around.... IGNORING the ambulance behind her. WE exited... on the way there we were diverted because an ambulance closer could take the call. That was good !! We got another call about 4 minutes later.... 2 miles further up on the Highway for an MVA (a car flipped). Upon arriving.... it was the SAME girl that had been 'yacking', paying no attention. The car was on it's roof, she was airlifted off the Highway with 2 compound femur fractures.... and LUCKILY her BABY was well secured in it's car seat.... unharmed, but hanging upside down. Cell phone in the cig lighter (open)....and radio Blaring !!

I observe it daily, some people get really mad if you aren't going at least 20 miles over the speed limit but all you can do is try to get out of their way as safely as possible. I also occasionally cause it because I work for an electric utility and road rage can reach monumental proportions when you have to alternate or detour traffic even if it's only for 5 or 10 minutes. People get real crazy real fast

Road rage of the past.
I very much dislike when drivers try to maneuver an Indy 500 lane change with only a few meters between you and the vehicle ahead of you at speeds of 65-70 mph. What! are you stupid!! What if I decided to have a bad hair day and tap your left/right rear bumper, put you in a spin?, you can kiss your %$#%& goodbye and taste some asphalt going 80mph plus, that would put the hurt on you. Relax all, that is of the long ago past.
Slow down, change lanes safely, use your signals and stay off the phone, all the while saving gas.

People need to drive attentive and obey the laws. Tailgating, speeding, and other bad habits that should be illegal but are not, cause accidents. Somebody always has more important business than everyone else on the road to include ambulances and other emergency vehicles. The most aggravating habit I see with drivers is that they will go down one lane on a multi lane highway like Montana for a mile, and fifty feet from the light, they see they can be one space further ahead and will cross over the solid lines to change lanes. Sometimes all the way from the inside lane to the outside lane. They ususlly do this in front of a bunch of cars timing the light to save gas, causing all of them to have to stop. But they are polite. AFTER they have started their selfish move, they turn on the turn signal. They sure get to the next red light three seconds ahead of the rest of us. They sure showed us all their expert driving prowess!

Interesting replies. I try to drive defensively;that is, I assume everyone wants to be in my lane, so when they cut me off, I'm not so surprised . Lots of idiots pull some really bone headed moves, and in my head I'm using obscene gestures and screaming some really foul things. on the otside, I keep quiet because I'm terrified I'll be yelling/gesturing at some nut with a gun!!! As a nurse, I smile when I imagine stopping to halp them at the accident they caused and then telling the cops just how crazy they were driving so tey get a big ,fat ticket on top of everything else!! Also, I have to admit to pulling some stupid moves myself when not paying attention. For that, I am truly sorry. Guess, we can all flub our rub sometimes. As a believer in Karma, I do try to let people merge, back out of parking spaces and the like. It makes me feel a little better to think I helped someone and they may return the favor te me or someone else.

On my communte their are several passing lanes and even when people are going slow once they get in a passing lane it is like the Indy 500. I once gave it to the urge and got up to 95 not letting this jerk pass me. Crazy I know but I won.

I think much of the road rage is due to people not paying attention and obeying traffic signs. Green for GO Yellow for prepare to STOP, STOPPing safely. SLOW for children and yield to walkers in crosswalk. Slow traffic to RIGHT. Simple rules that if ALL would OBEY our driving would be kinder and more gentle on everyone. As for as TailGating or following too close for speed and conditions, these drivers really need Driver Education or big FAT Ticket to get them to Stop before they Murder someone, but like someone said they are in their own world and don't realize what they are doing.

If people would exclude cellphone usage from their driving experience, it would save me a lot of heart ache. Nothing peeves me more than that, and every person you see repeatedly braking, crossing the line, or going extremely slow is on the phone!

I had an experience on I-87 when I was traveling with the flow of traffic, someone was tailgating me, yelling, and flipping me off. I hadn't cut anyone off, nor was I traveling under 65 mph. I moved over to the middle lane and eventually got off before my exit..it was scary because I was driving alone.

People just not paying attention. When your behind the wheel of a car you should understand that you hold quite a few peoples lives in your hands if you want to drive like a bat out of hell, thats fine dont do it in traffic, dont bob and weave in and out of cars.... there is no reason for it. I also hate the freaking people tha tput on makeup in there car on the way to work... i just want to yell at them cause they just poke along and dont pay attention either.

For the most part, I am usually one of the speed demons in the passing lane... However, there are those times when I am already speeding, well above the speed limit and someone comes flying up behind me and starts tailgating me... I don't hit my brakes, that is sure to piss them off knowing I did it on purpose... I usually just take my foot off the gas and look preoccupied and they usually go around me thinking I am just some dumb female driver... Either way, I get them off my butt without them shooting me for hitting my brakes... It has gotten scary out there...
