I'm in the minority. In my area: Ooltewah, TN; the day in day out lowest cost regular gas available is at Murphy USA (Walmart) using the pre-paid Walmart gift card. They also give the 3 cent per gallon discount using a Walmart associated credit card, but I don't have one of those. But bought the cheapest gas I've bought in a while at Steve Ray's Midnight Oil, at 2.49 per gallon for regular. They run a 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM EDT radio program on 102.3 on Saturdays, and offer a super low price. Today's (9-22-07) price of 2.49 per gallon was 15 cents per gallon less than their current price of 2.64 per gallon for regular. The special is just on regular though. No discount on mid-grade or premium.

Debit card then credit with a rebate that is paid off each month, so no interest.

Credit cards 99% of the time, and I go in, and use a coupon which gives me $.04 / gallon off. So, I get the 4 cent discount, and then get at least 1% cash back bonus. "A penny saved, is a penny earned". Also "A penny saved, is still not much" :) But it usually adds up to nearly $1.00 per tank, And I'll do this little bit of "work" for a buck. ($1.00 for 2 mins of work, is $30/hr. Which sure beats Min wage by a mile)

I always almost always pay by credit card. That's because the credit card price minus the 5% credit card rebate is almost always is lower than the cash price. The 5% gas rebate credit cards are a good deal IF you make sure to ALWAYS pay them off in full each month.

I pay by debit card or credit card, which I pay in full each month. No sense in adding interest to the high price of gas.

Credit card, to at least get points for all this money wasted.
Avoid Arco, since they don't take credit and they charge a surcharge for debit/ATM transactions. Unless you're paying cash or filling up a big rig, they're not worth it.

I use whatever credit card offers the biggest discount. When coupled with a card (like a safeway card) it can really add up to a big discount.

Debit or credit with a rebate - always pay it off at the end of the month - no interest then.

Wow, so many people pay for gas by credit card!?!?!? I don't understand that - complain about gas prices and then pay a finance charge to your CC comp. on top of gas price??? I even saw one comment saying 5% cash back at end of month. I hope they are paying off the credit card bill each month as well because the 5% cash back is nothing compared to the 14-21% interest charged on that gas purchase.
