Diesel and Gasoline Prices Continue Decline

truckinginfo.com -- Once again this week, the price of diesel and gasoline at the pump saw a decrease over last week's prices. Nationally, the average price for a gallon of diesel fell 8.6 cents to rest at $4.03. According to the Department of Engergy's weekly report, all regions in the U.S. saw a drop in the price of diesel this past week.

Despite this continued decline in diesel prices, the national average price is still 13.8 cents above where the price per gallon was last year at this time.

The cheapest diesel can be found on the East Coast in the Lower Atlantic region, where diesel prices dropped an average of 9 cents to $3.92 per gallon.

The steepest decline in diesel prices was seen in the Midwest and on West Coast, where prices fell approximately 11 cents over last week's average price for a gal..

So if you believe the gasoline prices are being manipulated by big oil and speculators, what should the true market price be? 19 cents a gallon, $1.50, $3.00? I was just curious what people here thought the price of gas should be.

Apparently we're a little out of the mainstream. Prices are holding in the $3.55-3.90 range for regular. Seems like only a couple of months ago ir was slipping pretty close to the $3.25-3.35 range. I hope we catch up pretty soon. It's still painful to fill the tank.

So what do refineries sound like on a still night? Stills? That is what the basic process is, after all. Next is a cat cracker. Probably hear that on a halloween night.

It won't last long. Since last week (after Sandy developed) gas futures have gone up 19 cents.
